We also have years of experience matching lettering styles to different stone materials. So, we can advise you on what will work best for your design. For example, some stones suit fine detail, while others suit bolder letter forms.
From classic Roman capitals to elegant, flourished italics, our deeply V-cut lettering adds a timeless quality. In addition, it stays clear in natural light, which helps the inscription remain readable for years.

What is the best stone for a cremation Headstone?

We are passionate about making the perfect memorial, which is why we’re very particular about the type of stone that we choose to work with.  Whilst granite is a popular stone for headstones due to its weathering properties, it is too hard and brittle for inscriptions to be V-cut and so lettering must be sand-blasted, resulting in a shallow, flat letter form. To be legible therefore, an inscription on a granite memorial must be painted which means that the memorial remains readable only as long as the paint lasts. We prefer to make memorials that last a lifetime and so choose stones that can withstand the elements and allow deeply V-cut lettering. V-cutting is the traditional approach to lettering in stone. Inscriptions cut in this way do not require paint to be seen, as a shadow cast from the available sunlight ensure legibility.
