Headstones and gravestones

All our headstones and gravestones are completely bespoke. That’s why we choose locally sourced stone wherever we can, rather than highly polished, factory-made templates imported from across the globe.
As a result, our memorials look at home in the traditional setting of a British churchyard or cemetery.

Headstones with deeply V-cut lettering.

One advantage of using a more traditional stone is that we can cut inscriptions deeply into a V shape, rather than sand-blast them. Although sand-blasting is fast and inexpensive, it creates a shallow, flat engraving. As a result, it often relies on paint to stay visible.
Over time, the paint deteriorates. Consequently, a sand-blasted headstone can become difficult to read. By contrast, deeply V-cut lettering stays clear without paint. That’s because the V shape casts a shadow in natural light. So, the headstone remains legible for longer.

Headstones made from locally sourced stone.

All our stones come from responsible suppliers in the UK or Europe. So, they suit the UK climate.
When you choose a stone, consider the grave’s location and the conditions it will face over time. Also, think about the colour you prefer and the type of carving you want.
In most cases, we recommend Celtic Limestone, Welsh or Cumbrian Slate, Nabresina Limestone, or Yorkshire Sandstone. These stones are hardy, carve well, and offer a good range of shades.
If you’re also considering a smaller tribute, you may want to view our memorial plaques.

How much does a headstone cost?

We believe memorials should last a lifetime. However, we also understand how hard it can be to balance true quality with a realistic budget. That’s why our mission is to bridge that gap. We offer premium memorials and superior workmanship at affordable prices.

Our bespoke headstones and gravestones start from £3,000 (including VAT). This price includes design proposals and installation. Even so, the final cost can vary. It depends on the type of stone, the size of the memorial, and the amount of carving required.

In addition, some churches and cemeteries charge a separate fee. They charge this for permission to erect a memorial. As a guide, limestone and sandstone memorials often cost less than slate. That’s because the raw material is more widely available.

If you’re looking for a more substantial memorial, you can also view our kerbed memorials.
